Santa's Shopping List

It’s never too early to start Christmas shopping, and it’s never too late to start being more thoughtful and taking action to make the world a better place. If there is one thing that David Attenborough has taught us, it is that any action, no matter how small, is significant.

Granted, Christmas 2020 won’t look like any Christmas we’ve seen before, but the one thing that won’t change is giving gifts. Here are some ways you can make a difference with your shopping this year:

  1. Support small businesses

With lockdown restrictions affecting countless small businesses, there has never been a better time to support local business owners by helping them to stay open over the festive period. I would recommend taking a look at etsy.com this year, there is an amazing range of cute little gifts, perfect for stocking fillers and secret santas. Not only will your gifts have that personal touch, you’ll sleep better on Christmas Eve knowing you’ve spread some Christmas joy this year amongst young entrepreneurs by buying their products.

  1. Buy sustainable products

Another way you can make a difference whilst making a dent in your bank account this season is through buying some eco-friendly pressies. Bamboo products are a personal favourite of mine, from coffee cups to zero-waste kitchen sets, you can get a gift that lasts a lifetime. Not only are bamboo products super ergonomic and aesthetically pleasing, they’re completely plastic free and a sustainable must-have for the holidays.

  1. DIY

A classic tip for any gift-giving season, and now more relevant than ever. What better way to reconnect with the people you’ve been separated from in lockdown than making your own personal gifts? Nothing says ‘Merry Christmas’ like a hand-made photo album! 2020 has been an unusual year, and although it has been difficult everyone has still managed to make some great memories. Some festive and fun DIY ideas include baking, painting or even homemade ornaments.

Sum up this crazy year with a personalised present, complete with a socially distanced photo or even Corona-related pun.
